Rio Ferdinand said on BT Sport 1 (7:23pm, January 28, 2021) that he feels sorry for Liverpool midfielder Thiago.
The Manchester United legend outlined the injury problems that Thiago has had, and underlined the difficulty it can be for players when they move to a new country.
Ferdinand said about Thiago on BT Sport 1 (7:23pm, January 28, 2021): “I feel sorry for him really in a lot of respects. He is coming to a team that’s been dismantled through injuries, and he is having to fill in. He has had his own injuries as well, which isn’t aways good, coming to a new culture, new club, new country, it’s difficult.”
Coming good
Thiago suffered a bad injury against Everton in October, and that is a big reason why the former Bayern Munich star has not been at his best.
It is not easy for players to be at their best when they have injury problems, and one should not really be harsh on Thiago.
There have been suggestions that the Spain international slows the game down for Liverpool, and that the 29-year-old is not really suited to the way that manager Jurgen Klopp’s side play.
While there might be some truth in that, there can be no denial that Thiago adds guile and finesse to the Liverpool midfield.
Now that Thiago is back and starting to play regularly, Liverpool fans could soon see the best of him, as the Reds aim to win the Premier League title for the second season in a row.
So far this season, Thiago has made five starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League, according to WhoScored.
