Rio Ferdinand has told BT Sport’s Champions League Tonight that Mohammed Kudus was “outrageous” for Ajax against Liverpool on Tuesday night – as the Everton and Tottenham transfer target scored against the Reds at Anfield.

Kudus, 22, is in good form. Now in his third season at Ajax, he has got off to a flyer – scoring an impressive six goals in nine games from midfield. Two of those six goals have come in the Champions League, against Rangers and Liverpool.

Reports claimed that in the summer, Everton and Tottenham wanted the 16-time Ghana international. A player that cost Ajax just £8million to sign from Norwegian side Nordsjaelland in July 2020. His value will have definitely gone up.

Ferdinand spoke about Kudus and his overall performance against Liverpool, as well as his wonderful first-half strike. Jurgen Klopp described it as “incredible”, and Ferdinand agrees – claiming the finish was “ridiculous” to beat Alisson.

“This is a ridiculous finish. He was quite quiet in parts but when he needed to come alive, he was outrageous. His first touch is away from goal, backwards, and you think, how does he generate the power to score from there?”

Ferdinand: Tottenham and Everton target Kudus was ‘outrageous’

If Kudus was not already on the radar of the 18 other Premier League clubs in the summer, he surely will be now. What a performance from the young midfielder, not only because of his goal, but his all-round display in the middle.

But if Ajax are selling Antony for £85million, then Kudus is going to be seriously expensive. Still only 22, but versatile and already shining in the Champions League – and a player with 16 international caps.

It is difficult to say how much Ajax would sell for right now, but he might cost a figure in the region of five time what Ajax initially paid for his services. If not more. He has a contract at Ajax until the summer of 2025.
