Tim Sherwood suggested on Sky Sports News (12:47pm, January 30, 2021) that Tottenham Hotspur head coach Jose Mourinho needs to make use of Dele Alli.
The former Tottenham manager believes that Spurs need to score more goals from midfield and need to play more expansive football.
Harry Kane is injured at the moment, and while Son Heung-min has been playing well and has been banging in the goals, the North London club need other players to chip in.
Sherwood said about Alli on Sky Sports News (12:47pm, January 30, 2021): “Dare I say it, would Dele Alli get back in? You need to find goals.
“You find goals from midfield from someone who has regularly scored 10+ in the Premier League, and that is Dele Alli. You have got someone right under your nose there who can score goals.”
Future uncertain
Alli is a very good midfielder who has been a success in the Premier League, but the England international does not appear to be part of head coach Mourinho’s plan at the moment.
According to The Mirror, the England international wants to join Paris Saint-Germain on loan, and Mourinho himself is reported to be open to letting him leave.
According to WhoScored, the 24-year-old has made one start and three substitute appearances in the Premier League and has made two starts and two substitute appearances in the Europa League for Spurs so far this season.
Alli scored nine goals and provided five assists in the Premier League and the Champions League last season, according to WhoScored.
