Just as we expected, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta did not include Aaron Ramsdale in the starting lineup against Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

Aaron Ramsdale did not start against Everton in the Premier League and was on the bench for Arsenal’s UEFA Champions League match against PSV.

David Raya, who joined Arsenal in the summer transfer window, started for the Gunners against Everton and PSV.

And, he was very good.

So, no one was surprised when Raya started for Arsenal in the North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

Ramsdale was on the bench.

TV cameras caught the England international goalkeeper applauding Raya when he made a brilliant save from Brennan Johnson’s effort.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher joked on Sky Sports that Ramsdale was doing that just for the camera, saying that it was like being at the Oscars.

Ramsdale’s father has since hit out at the Sky Sports pundit.

And now, former Sky Sports presenter Richard Keys has hammered Carragher.

Writing in his blog, the BeIN Sport presenter mocked Carragher for not winning a Premier League title with Liverpool.

Keys has also suggested that the £120,000-a-week (The Daily Mail)  Ramsdale could leave Arsenal and find another club where he would flourish.

Chelsea and Bayern Munich have been linked with Ramsdale.

The presenter wrote on his blog: “I was interested to see Aaron Ramsdale’s dad leap to his son’s defence by lambasting Jamie Carragher for his comments during the derby game.

“Good on him. I feel for Ramsdale. He’s a terrific ‘keeper and made of the right stuff, which is why he’ll turn up elsewhere and go on to have a very good career.

“|I didn’t agree with Carragher’s midweek assessment that Arsenal would never win the title with Ramsdale in goal.

“When I saw that my initial reaction was ‘nonsense’, because they were a whisker away from doing so last season.

“But then I realised that Carragher played in a team that was never going to win the title with him in it, so he probably knows more about the subject than me.”
