Liverpool are expected to face an ‘epic fight’ for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia if Arsenal sell Thomas Partey.
Romeo Lavia is likely be at the centre of a major transfer fight with Arsenal plotting to rival Liverpool.
That is according to Belgian reporter Sacha Tavolieri, who claims that Lavia is Arsenal’s ‘main option’ if Partey leaves.
Partey could make a move to Saudi Arabia and leave Arsenal to go for another midfielder even after signing Declan Rice.
Tavolieri believes that Arsenal have a number of options in mind but Lavia is at top of their list.
Tavolieri finished off by saying ‘epic fight incoming’ given that Arsenal may have to fight Liverpool for Lavia’s signature.

Liverpool a huge contender for Romeo Lavia
Tavolieri also noted that Liverpool are ‘of course’ still in the race amid strong links with a move to Anfield of late.
Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg claimed last week that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp wants to bring Lavia to Anfield.
TalkSPORT claimed earlier in July that Liverpool had overtaken Chelsea in the race for Lavia.
Liverpool’s interest in Lavia appears to be genuine and it may only ramp up now.
Fabinho and Jordan Henderson appear to be nearing big moves to Saudi Arabia, leaving major holes in the Liverpool midfield.
Lavia would be eyed up to replace Fabinho in front of the Liverpool defence, though Liverpool would certainly miss the experience Fabinho and Henderson provide.

Southampton have already replaced Lavia
One interesting factor here is that Southampton have already landed the player they allegedly identified to replace Lavia.
Reports from the Daily Mail earlier in July suggested that Southampton wanted Shea Charles to come in for Lavia.
The idea was clear; Lavia emerged at Manchester City before joining Southampton and Charles is hoping to do the same.
City talent Charles has now completed his move to Southampton and will seemingly take over from Lavia if he does leave.
The battle for Lavia – hailed as ‘very special’ by Jadon Sancho – is well and truly on with Arsenal and Liverpool now ready to do battle.
