It’s that time of the season when players are rewarded for their efforts, and Liverpool target Patson Daka has landed a significant award.

The 22-year-old has been named as Player of the Season in the Austrian Bundesliga, in an award organised by Sky Sports.

Daka wins the crown after scoring a phenomenal 34 goals in 42 games across all competitions.

Incredibly, the 22-cap Zambia international also provided 12 assists for his teammates.

As far as individual seasons go, there won’t be many better than Daka’s efforts this term.

Zambia Football revealed that Liverpool – as well as Arsenal – are in the race to sign the RB Salzburg sensation.

Daka has shades of Sadio Mané about him – the Senegal international also made his name at RB Salzburg.

Impressively, Daka secured 73% of the votes from the Sky Sports community, blowing every other candidate out of the water.

If Liverpool are to sign him, another Premier League side seem to have the upper hand on Jürgen Klopp’s men.

West Ham are favourites to sign Daka

In the aforementioned report from Zambia Football, it is said that West Ham are favourites to sign the goalscoring machine.

That is something of a surprise to us, in truth.

In additional to Liverpool and Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United are also said to be keen on Daka, according to Zambia Football.

In that respect, it’s a shock to see the Hammers lead the race.

One thing that could be giving the Irons an advantage is the fact that Freddie Kanoute – formerly of West Ham – is Daka’s agent.

This is speculative, but if Kanoute enjoyed his time at West Ham, then it’s possible he’s trying to push his client towards east London.

At least under David Moyes, Daka should get plenty of first-team football, as there isn’t much competition for Michail Antonio.

At any of the other clubs interested, he might find himself on the bench at times with competition for places enhanced.
