West Ham United are leading Premier League rivals Liverpool and Arsenal in the race to sign Red Bull Salzburg’s £25 million hotshot Patson Daka, according to Zambia Football.

Just 24 hours earlier, one of the most exciting young strikers in the European game reiterated the fact he’s indeed a Liverpool supporter (BBC).

But his lifelong devotion to the men on the red half of Merseyside doesn’t necessarily mean Daka will be competing with Roberto Firmino and co for a place in Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI next season.

It’s no secret Liverpool are scouring the market for a forward capable of giving them a new dimension in attack, with Daka joining Dusan Vlahovic, Donyell Malen and co on their transfer wish-list.

The so-called ‘new Thierry Henry’ is also a target for Manchester United, Manchester City and, fittingly given his nickname, Arsenal.

According to reports from Daka’s homeland, however, West Ham are leading the chase for his £25 million-rated signature.

Perhaps that has something to do with the fact that, under David Moyes, the London Stadium has become home to many young players looking to unlock their vast potential – from Jarrod Bowen to Pablo Fornals and Said Benrahma to Danish defender Frederik Alves Ibsen.

Daka scored a stunning 34 goals as Salzburg cruised to another Austrian Bundesliga title last term.

He hit 27 the season before that too, proving beyond all doubt there’s life after Erling Haaland at the Red Bull Arena.

And his agent, former West Ham striker Freddie Kanoute, has already admitted Daka is ready to graduate with full honours and a PHD in goalscoring from the feted Salzburg finishing school.
