According to The Mirror, Christian Eriksen is now back as Tottenham Hotspur’s number one transfer target before the January transfer window closes on Monday.

It has been reported that due to Giovani Lo Celso’s injury, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy wants to sign a replacement for Dele Alli before letting the England international midfielder leave on loan for Paris Saint-Germain.

Eriksen – who was described as “world class” by his Denmark international teammate and Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel in Football Paradise in November 2017 – is now back as the number one target for Spurs, but the move depends on what Inter want to do, according to the report.

Could Tottenham Hotspur get Christian Eriksen?

Inter chief executive Giuseppe Marotta said only yesterday that Eriksen could stay at the club, as quoted on Sky Sports, having stated just last month that the Denmark international attacking midfielder is available for transfer.

It does seem quite late in the window for such a high-profile transfer to happen, but anything is possible in football.

Earlier this month, Sky Sports reported that the 28-year-old wants to return to Spurs, having struggled to make an impact at Inter since his move from the North London club in January 2020, and perhaps his desire could be key.
