It seems that Christian Eriksen will be disappointed, amid speculation that he wants to return to Tottenham Hotspur.
Earlier this month, Sky Sports reported that Eriksen wants to come back to Tottenham after failing to make a huge impact at Inter Milan.
The Denmark international attacking midfielder joined Inter from Spurs in January 2020, but the 28-year-old has struggled to adjust to head coach Antonio Conte’s system.
Sky Sports credited Tottenham with interest in the Dane and claimed that he wants to come back to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
However, it seems that Inter have made a decision not to offload Eriksen despite having initially wanted to do so.
In December 2020, Football Italia quotes Inter director Beppe Marotta as saying that Eriksen is “on the transferable list”, adding that the Dane has “struggled to settle into the squad”.
However, Marotta has now said that Eriksen will stay at Inter, and that he will be an important player.
Calciomercato.com quotes Marotta as saying about Eriksen: “You can play less than the others but be decisive, and so Eriksen can be important.”
With Inter challenging for the Scudetto and just two points behind leaders and city rivals AC Milan in second place in the Serie A table at the moment, it makes sense for Conte to keep Eriksen as an option in his squad.
