Wolverhampton Wanderers are leading the race to sign Sunderland linked Derby County striker Chris Martin.

Wolves are in the market for a striker and want Martin to join Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

The 29-year-old has started just five of Derby’s Championship games this season, and looks to have dropped down the pecking order at the club following Rams’ £1.5 million capture of Cameron Jerome from Norwich City.

Also, earlier this week, reports from HITC Sport claimed that the Black Cats have agreed a loan deal with Derby for Martin, and are hoping to convince the player to make the move to the Stadium of Light.
Chris Coleman, the Sunderland boss, has hinted on Saturday that a deal is in place, but it is up to the player to decide. And it seems, Wolves have sneaked in, and could ruin Sunderland’s hopes of signing the striker.
