Sunderland are said to have held talks about signing the Derby County striker, who began his career at Norwich City.

Chris Martin is willing to move to Sunderland – although old club Norwich City are also showing an interest in the Derby County striker, according to the Northern Echo.
The report claims that Chris Coleman, the Sunderland manager, has spoken to Derby officials about a loan for Martin, and is hoping to be able to conclude a deal ‘within the next 24 hours’.
Martin has started just five of Derby’s Championship fixtures this season, after returning to Pride Park last summer following a successful spell at Fulham.

But the Rams’ £1.5 million capture of Cameron Jerome from Norwich City this week looks to have moved the 29-year-old to fifth in the pecking order.
And according to the Northern Echo, Norwich are ‘understood’ to be keen on a move for Martin as Jerome’s replacement – four-and-a-half years since he left Carrow Road.

The report claims that Reading have also held discussions with Martin and his representatives, leaving Sunderland facing an anxious wait for an answer.
Teenage duo Joel Asoro and Josh Maja are Coleman’s only options up front, after Sunderland sold James Vaughan to Wigan Athletic and saw top scorer Lewis Grabban recalled by Bournemouth.
