Wolves face competition for the signing of Chelsea outcast Michy Batshuayi from Serie A minnows Salernitana, who are interested in taking the Belgian international off the Blues’ books.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Italian side, who just about survived relegation last season in what many consider a top-flight miracle, are interested in signing Batshuayi as Salernitana look to bolster their ranks in the final days of the transfer window, with Wolves also reportedly chasing the striker.
Chelsea signed Batshuayi from Olympique Marseille for a reported £33m, and despite scoring the winning goal in the 2016/17 season to win the west London side their last Premier League title, the striker has never established himself as a guaranteed starter for the Premier League giants.
As a result, the 28-year-old attacker has been shipped out on numerous loan spells, with Batshuayi’s latest adventure taking the forward to Turkey with Besiktas, where the striker impressed with the Istanbul giants, with Wolves now keen on signing the Belgian, though Bruno Lage’s side face competition from Salernitana.
Indeed, although the Serie A minnows just about survived relegation last season, Salernitana have proven to have the pulling power to sign some big names in football, namely French legend Franck Ribery, who at 39-years-old is the club captain for the new campaign.
With Salernitana also signing the likes of Antonio Candreva this summer, adding Batshuayi to their ranks will be an incredible coup for the Italian club, and for Wolves, they could now miss out on the Belgian international in the final week of the transfer window.
Salernitana signing Batshuayi would be a kick in the teeth for Wolves

Whilst Wolves are reportedly working on a deal to sign VfB Stuttgart striker Sasa Kalajdzic, there’s no denying that Batshuayi would be a great addition for the Molineux side this summer, and losing out on the Chelsea outcast to Salernitana of all clubs would sting for Lage.
After all, Batshuayi has proven to be a forward who can deliver in the Premier League, and being beaten by Salernitana to the attacker would be a painful blow for Wolves, who can do with all the attacking firepower they can muster for the new season.
