Jack Wilshere is reportedly confident of securing a permanent contract away from Arsenal as Mikel Arteta has decided not to award the 30-year-old a deal with the Gunners.
According to Football London, the former Arsenal and West Ham midfielder is ‘hopeful’ of signing a full-time deal with a club in the coming weeks after spending the last few months training with Arsenal.
Wilshere has been at London Colney since late 2021 training with the first-team as well as working on his coaching badges, with the former Emirates Stadium hero aiding Arsenal’s various youth levels.
The former England international was part of the travelling squad that went to Dubai over the Premier League winter break, yet despite this move from Arsenal and Arteta, Wilshere still won’t be offered a short-term contract with the club despite calls from fans to do so.
Wilshere remains a heavily popular figure in north London, and despite Arsenal now having all their central midfielders back, supporters are keen for the playmaker to be awarded a contract with the north London side until the end of the season.
Indeed, with Arsenal only having the Premier League to focus on, Arteta will likely stick to the same XI for the remainder of the season, meaning opportunities for Wilshere to play should he win a contract with the club would be limited.
Arsenal are making a ruthless but smart decision over Wilshere

It might seem like a harsh call from Arteta to deny Wilshere a contract with Arsenal, yet given the stakes on the line, the north London club can afford to be ruthless with their former midfielder over a short-term deal.
Indeed, Wilshere could well be on his way to joining a new club as we speak, and for Arsenal, they will be hopeful that the midfielder signs a contract with a side as fan unrest over adding the 30-year-old to the squad increases.
