Manchester City have now announced that Pep Guardiola has signed a new contract until 2025, with Liverpool getting a mention from the Daily Mail.

When reporting the news ahead of today’s official announcement, the Daily Mail touched upon what the Citizens think of the Reds right now, despite their lowly position of sixth in the Premier League.

What Manchester City think of Liverpool

Well, as things stand, people in the footballing world are probably looking at Liverpool and feeling slightly concerned about the situation at Anfield, and anything but fearful of the Reds.

Jürgen Klopp has overseen just six wins from 14 Premier League games so far, and qualification for next season’s Champions League will require plenty of work in the second half of the campaign.

However, Manchester City still view Liverpool as a mighty presence.

When adding some detail about Guardiola’s interest in Jude Bellingham, the Daily Mail claim that those at the Etihad Stadium remain wary of Liverpool’s pulling power, despite their current situation.

Clearly, Guardiola expects to be continuing his battle with Klopp and Liverpool at the summit of English football as he gets set to stay in Manchester until 2025 – his previous contract was expiring at the end of the season.

Liverpool must justify Manchester City concern

Liverpool must take advantage of their position as a feared club across Europe, and give Klopp the transfer funds to make his side a real force once again.

According to Marca in Spain, Real Madrid are also becoming worried about Liverpool, specifically in the race to sign Bellingham, so their reputation among Europe’s elite remains intact despite the current season’s problems.

That strong standing at Europe’s top table is starting to slip away due to a lack of strong investment from Fenway Sports Group (FSG), so it is imperative that Liverpool spend big in 2023 to breathe new life into their squad.
