According to Juve Live, West Ham have now joined the race to sign Juventus and Turkey colossus Merih Demiral.

What’s the story?

Well, West Ham – and Everton – are said to be ‘above all’ the other clubs interested in signing the 23-year-old.

Demiral has just exited EURO 2020 after finishing bottom of Group A with Turkey, following a string of underwhelming displays.

The 24-cap Turkey international scored the first goal of the entire tournament, albeit in the wrong net as he put Italy 1-0 up.

It’s safe to say he struggled at EURO 2020.

Nevertheless, Demiral is still a fine defensive prodigy.

Juve Live believe Juventus want €35 million (£30 million) for their No.28, who they are happy to sell for the right price.

Everton also want Merih Demiral

David Moyes faces competition for the centre-back, and from his former employers of all clubs.

Everton are said to be keen on Demiral, and by the sounds of it, the Toffees are further along in negotiations compared to the Hammers.

It was Calciomercato who claimed that Everton were in advanced negotiations with Juventus over the centre-back’s availability.

Things have since quietened down a bit – perhaps due to Carlo Ancelotti’s sudden departure.

Interestingly, Tottenham’s new Director of Football Fabio Paratici is also said to be a fan of the towering defender.

If West Ham are to win this race, they’ll have to fight off some strong Premier League competition, it seems.
