According to Calciomercato, Everton are in advanced negotiations with Juventus over the signing of Merih Demiral.

The Italian news outlet claim that the Toffees are deep in discussions with Andrea Pirlo’s side over a deal for the 23-year-old.

Calciomercato state that an official bid is coming, worth somewhere in the region of €25 million – €30 million (£21.7 million – £26 million).

It is also said that Demiral’s salary will increase from €1.8 million (£1.6 million) to €3 million (£2.6 million) should he move to Everton.

Juventus must raise €100 million by June 30th. As a result, Calciomercato say that basically everyone is for sale, except for Matthijs de Ligt and Dejan Kulusevski.

The Italian champions actually want more than the above sum that Everton will offer imminently.

However, given their situation, they are willing to negotiate in order to come to an agreement.

So, if negotiations end successfully, what type of player will Everton get?

Well, the 19-cap Turkey international has been compared to Manchester United icon Nemanja Vidić by Turkish football expert Emre Sarigul.

Juve FC quote Sarigul as saying: “Demiral was a Vidić fan growing up and he is a similar stature to the former Manchester United man. The Turkish international towers above most players, is physical, strong in the air and surprisingly technical with the ball for such a big man. He is a natural leader and cool under pressure.”

At just 23 years of age, the same as Ben Godfrey, Carlo Ancelotti would have a centre-back pairing to last a decade if he can bring Demiral to Goodison Park.

However, if it does happen, we think Marcel Brands should try to sell one of Michael Keane, Yerry Mina or Mason Holgate, as the centre-back department will be too crowded.
