According to the Guardian, West Ham have submitted another bid as they aim to sign Hans Vanaken from Club Brugge.
What’s the story?
Well, the east Londoners appear to be huge admirers of the Belgium international, as they have now made an improved offer after seeing an opening bid worth £8m rejected.
The Guardian believe Vanaken is keen to join West Ham, and negotiations are set to continue between the Hammers and Club Brugge as we approach the August 31st deadline.
Unfortunately, the value of West Ham’s improved offer is undisclosed.
Nevertheless, this is very exciting news for West Ham fans.
David Moyes appears to be personally desperate to sign Vanaken – it was said that the Club Brugge No.20 was his dream No.1 target in 2021, but a deal failed to materialise.
Now, after a stunning 2021/22 campaign in which he scored 15 goals and provided 12 assists in 50 appearances, the 29-year-old now looks likely to join the Irons.

If West Ham manage to get this deal over the line, we are confident that Vanaken will become a fan favourite at the London Stadium.
The Belgian is unerringly consistent, and his impressive efforts last term were not an anomaly.
In the season before – the 2020/21 campaign – Vanaken scored 16 goals from midfield, while netting 17 goals in 2019/20.
In total, Vanaken has scored 102 goals for Club Brugge, and he should offer West Ham a serious goalscoring threat from midfield.
With Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek doing the dirty work alongside him, we believe the Belgian will have no issues settling in under Moyes, who surely knows how he wants to use Vanaken given his long-standing interest in him.
