According to HLN Sport, Club Brugge have tied Hans Vanaken and Simon Mignolet down to new contracts.

The former was a target for West Ham, with HLN Sport confirming the Hammers’ interest while adding that he was considered a dream reinforcement by David Moyes.

However, they also mention that Vanaken wasn’t keen on a move to the London Stadium anyway.

HLN Sport say that the Irons’ offer was worth over €15 million (£13.6 million), but Club Brugge immediately rejected the bid.

This news is a shame for West Ham.

The Belgium international appears to be a very good player judging by his statistics, and one who would’ve helped inject some creativity and end product into Moyes’ squad.

Vanaken netted an impressive 17 goals last season while setting up three more, and already has six goal involvements in seven outings this term.

However, with the player not interested in the switch, there’s not much more that Moyes or the West Ham recruitment team can do – especially after the 28-year-old penned a new deal.

With just days until the transfer deadline, West Ham have one new signing in their ranks.

Czech Republic international Vladimir Coufal recently joined from Slavia Prague in a transfer worth £5.4 million.

Moyes could yet make more additions, but one thing appears certain – Vanaken probably won’t be one of them after he put pen to paper on fresh terms.
