According to CalcioMercato, West Ham United are competing with Fulham for Luca Pellegrini’s signature this summer.

Both Fulham and West Ham are in the market for a new left-back this summer, and now, the two London clubs are going head to head for Pellegrini.

The 23-year-old is seemingly out of favour at Juventus, and after the arrival of Andrea Cambiasso in Turin, Pellegrini could soon be shown the door.

Fulham have been linked with Pellegrini for some time, but in typical fashion, the Whites are dragging their feet with this one, despite reports stating that a deal is ‘close’.

With West Ham now in the race, Fulham may be sweating over whether or not they can get this deal over the line. After all, the Hammers can offer European football next term, while Fulham are likely to be in a relegation battle.

Luckily, Fulham do have both Joe Bryan and Antonee Robinson at left-back, so they shouldn’t find themselves too short in that spot, but it’s clearly a position in which Marco Silva’s side want to strengthen.

West Ham’s long-standing left-back has been Aaron Cresswell, but sadly, the Englishman isn’t getting any younger, and at the age of just 23, Pellegrini could well be Cresswell’s successor.

Whether or not either team get this deal done remains to be seen, but this is certainly a situation worth keeping an eye on.
