Premier League newcomers Fulham are ‘close’ to sealing a deal for Juventus’ £20 million Italy international Luca Pellegrini, journalist Luca Momblano says in quotes reported by Blasting News.

This is not the first time Fulham have made a series of eye-catching signings after securing promotion out of the Championship. Many in West London still to this day wake up in cold sweats, haunted by the recurring nightmare that was the 2018/19 season.

Fulham famously spent over £100 million that year and still ended up in the relegation zone.

Will things be different this time around? Well, Fulham’s transfer business thus far certainly paints a rather positive picture – then again, it did in 2018 too.

Joao Palhinha looks a coup for £18 million, with deals for Manor Solomon, Andreas Pereira and Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno very much on the right track. Ditto Pellegrini.

According to Sport Mediaset, Fulham are in talks with Juventus to sign Pellegrini; A 23-year-old left-back who joined the Italian giants from Roma for a cool £20 million. He now looks set to leave Turin for 50 per cent less.

Fulham ‘close’ in on Juventus’ Luca Pellegrini

“Pellegrini’s departure for Fulham seems close,” explains Momblano, one of the nation’s most respected reporters and an expert in all-things Juve.

Andrea Cambiaso looks set to replace Pellegrini at the Allianz Stadium. The Genoa youngster – who was linked with Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the year – is expected in Turin today for medical tests (Gazzetta dello Sport).

Max Allegri also has Alex Sandro and the versatile Mattia de Sciglio, who can fill in on the left.

Fulham, meanwhile, appear to have made Pellegrini their number one left-back target. This comes after failing with an £8 million bid for Alex Moreno. Real Betis want almost double for the now-29-year-old. Pellegrini, six years Moreno’s junior, represents a more low-cost, long-term addition.

Pellegrini will provide competition for Antonee Robinson in Marco Silva’s starting XI.
