According to a report by The Athletic, West Ham United have already agreed a deal to sign Craig Dawson on a permanent transfer.
The report states that when Dawson joined on loan, the Hammers also signed an agreement that would see them sign him on a permanent deal for just £2m if a certain threshold of starts was met.
Dawson is now just three starts away from triggering that clause, meaning that the move could be confirmed as early as April 3rd when West Ham face Wolves in the Premier League.
Dawson has been something of a revelation since joining the Hammers, and he’s earned all sorts of plaudits this season.
The £2m fee will be due upon Dawson’s 15th start of the season, and with the Watford loanee now being one of the first names on David Moyes’ teamsheet, you’d have to expect this deal to be confirmed at some point next month, barring injuries of course.

£2m seems like an absolute bargain, but it’s also being reported by The Athletic that this number could rise depending on a number of performance factors, including whether or not the London club qualify for Europe.
Coughing up a bit of extra cash if Dawson helps West Ham qualify for Europe isn’t likely to sting that much, as the defender will likely have proven to be worth it if the London club secure a top-four or top-six finish.
It seems as though this deal is all but done, and West Ham fans can now rest easy knowing that Dawson will likely be joining the club on a permanent basis.
