West Bromwich Albion and Tottenham Hotspur appear to have yet another shared target.

West Bromwich Albion have enquired about Dinamo Zagreb’s Filip Benkovic as their search for central defensive additions continues, according to The Daily Mail.

Benkovic was linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur over the weekend (The Sunday People, page 51), and it is claimed he would cost in the region of £13.5 million.

But with Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen and Eric Dier for company in his position at Tottenham, Benkovic could find West Brom the more appealing destination.

The Baggies are looking to recruit a partner for Jonny Evans in the coming weeks, and The Daily Mail reports they have bid for Middlesbrough’s Ben Gibson, but were informed the Teessiders will only sell to a top-six club.

Hawthorns boss Tony Pulis is also said to want Manchester United’s Chris Smalling – who, like Gibson, has also been linked with a move to Tottenham this summer – but looks likely to miss out once more as the England international allegedly favours a Champions League club.

And that appears to have forced West Brom to broaden their search parameters, leading them to Benkovic.

The 20-year-old, who has been capped by Croatia at Under-21 level, has only played 48 times for Dinamo but was tied to a five-year contract at the start of 2017.

Given the option, should Benkovic choose West Brom over Tottenham Hotspur?
