West Bromwich Albion have reportedly made a bid for Southampton’s Jay Rodriguez.

According to the Daily Mail, West Bromwich Albion have submitted a £10million bid for Southampton attacker Jay Rodriguez – but Hull City and West Ham United could rival them for his signature.

Rodriguez, 27, was a star during his first two seasons at Southampton, as he hit 26 goals in his first two seasons following a summer 2012 move from Burnley.

However, disaster struck for the forward in April 2014, as he suffered a major knee injury which ruled him out for the entire 2014-15 campaign, and dogged him last season as he scored three times in 16 games for Southampton.

Now somewhere close to full fitness, Rodriguez has hit five goals in 23 games for Southampton, but with The Mirror reporting that Napoli’s Manolo Gabbiadini is set for a medical with the Saints, Rodriguez could be pushed down the pecking order.

West Brom now appear keen to try their luck with a move for Rodriguez, as the Daily Mail report that the Baggies have made a £10million deadline day move to land the attacker.

Manager Tony Pulis has been keen to add another goalscoring option alongside Salomon Rondon, and Rodriguez appears to be his top target as the transfer window enters its final hours.

However, it’s added that West Ham United – also in the market for another attacker – could move for Rodriguez having already signed Jose Fonte from Southampton already this month, whilst Hull City are also keen if Southampton do choose to sell.

Southampton should be looking to keep Rodriguez even with Gabbiadini arriving, as they’ve struggled to score goals this season, and should only let him go if he demands a move away today.
