West Brom are reportedly hoping to land Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson.

According to The Sun, West Bromwich Albion are preparing a huge £20million move to sign Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson – but it may still not be enough to secure his signature.

The Baggies have sold Saido Berahino to Stoke City this month, meaning that manager Tony Pulis is keen to bring in another striker to support Salomon Rondon.

A number of strikers have been linked with moves to The Hawthorns this month, including Watford’s Odion Ighalo, but it now seems that Pulis has turned his attention to another Premier League attacker.

The Sun report that West Brom have made a move for Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson, and are prepared to pay £20million – a club-record fee – to land him.

However, having only signed a new contract with the Cherries last summer, Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe doesn’t want to sell Wilson this month, and will fight to keep him at the Vitality Stadium.

Wilson, 24, came up through the ranks with West Brom’s Midlands neighbours Coventry City, scoring 23 goals in 55 games for the Sky Blues before being snapped up by Bournemouth in 2014.

20 goals in 45 league games fired Bournemouth to promotion, but he missed a huge chunk of last season with a serious knee injury, and opened the season as Bournemouth’s leading striker with six goals in 19 appearances to his name this term.

Benik Afobe is emerging as a serious contender for Wilson’s spot in the Bournemouth attack though, and West Brom are seemingly keen to add him and his pace alongside the power of Rondon – but Bournemouth will fight tooth and nail to keep him on the South Coast and out of the clutches of the Baggies.
