Leeds United director of football Victor Orta has travelled to Sardinia in order to sign Cagliari star Nahitan Nandez, according to Centotrentuno.
Nandez has been linked with Leeds on a regular basis over the last couple of years, but this summer has seen the rumours grow stronger and stronger.
Corriere Dello Sport reported last month that Leeds were ‘very close’ to signing Nandez in a deal worth around £30million.
That move hasn’t materialised since then, but here we are again, talking about Nandez to Leeds.
This new report states that Orta has left England for a flight to Sardinia and talks over a deal for Nandez could now accelerate in the coming hours.
Nandez is on holiday after playing for Uruguay at Copa America, but Leeds will now hope to get a deal tied up for the midfielder whilst he is away.

Branded ‘inexhaustible’ earlier this year, Nandez is a great fit for Marcelo Bielsa’s high-energy style, and he has already proven himself in Europe having impressed for Cagliari following his stint with Boca Juniors.
Add in that the Yorkshire Evening Post claim that Orta has settled on his top midfield target and this all does point towards Leeds moving their move for Nandez after weeks of speculation.
