Newcastle United are believed to be interested in signing Crystal Palace’s Andros Townsend.
According to a report in the Telegraph, Crystal Palace are not keen to sanction a loan deal for Andros Townsend, despite Newcastle United’s interest.
Newcastle are thought to be pushing to try and sign Townsend, but they do not have the budget available to them to sign the winger this month on a permanent deal.
The Magpies would prefer to do a deal which would bring Townsend to St. James’ Park on loan with a view to a permanent transfer in the summer.
Newcastle would be able to fund the transfer with Premier League football, but Mike Ashley does not want to risk financially insecurity by overspending while the Tynesiders are still in the Championship.
Although Newcastle look to be well placed to achieve promotion back to the top flight, Palace are not keen on the deal.
The Eagles want a cash sum for Townsend, so Sam Allardyce can reinvest the money into his squad.
Townsend only left Newcastle six months ago, after making 13 appearances for the Magpies in the Premier League.
The winger has hinted that he could be open to a move back to Newcastle by ‘liking’ a post where it was suggested that Benitez should ‘bring him home’ on social media website Twitter, as covered by HITC.
