Tottenham Hotspur target Gareth Bale did not play in Real Madrid’s behind-closed-doors warm-up game against Getafe yesterday, The Times of India have reported.
Bale was left out of Madrid’s squad for the friendly match, which they won 6-0, and it seems that his move to Tottenham is edging ever closer.
Madrid confirmed after the game that Eden Hazard was missing through injury, but it seems that Bale’s absence was down to transfer activity.
Only hours later, BBC Sport reported how Tottenham are now closing in on a deal to bring the Welshman back to England.
And his absence was the first indication that Tottenham may well be getting nearer to doing a deal this time around.
Bale, who was labelled ‘unbelievable’ by Aaron Ramsey on Instagram earlier this season, has been linked with a move back to Spurs on numerous occasions before, but never to this extent.

If Spurs can complete the deal then it will be one of their most exciting transfer moves in recent memory.
Bale should lift the mood around Spurs, and his ability on the pitch will make them a far greater attacking threat for the rest of the season.
