According to Sport, Spurs are reportedly considering making an offer for Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet this summer.
The Frenchman is, of course, currently on loan at Tottenham, and while the defender isn’t impressing too much, it’s fair to say that there aren’t a huge number of left-footed centre-backs on the market right now.
Lenglet joined Barcelona from Sevilla in 2018 and initially impressed at Camp Now.
However, he has struggled to maintain his form and has since been shipped out to Spurs on loan.
As many will know, Barcelona are currently struggling financially, and, in turn, they are open to selling the so-called ‘excellent’ defender.

The north London club are interested in making an offer for the player, and he could be available for a bargain fee given that Barca need to raise cash.
Lenglet could be a shrewd signing for Spurs, he’d potentially provide depth at the back and he’s already fairly settled at the club having spent this season on loan.
He’s also comfortable playing as a left-sided centre-back in a back three, which is a formation that Conte has always favoured throughout his career.
Inevitably, there are concerns about Lenglet’s form and fitness after a rather unimpressive loan spell this season, but after spending a season bedding in, Spurs could benefit from making this move permanent.
Of course, Tottenham do have some other targets on their list. Piero Hincapie, Alessandro Bastoni and Josko Gvardiol have all been strongly linked, and it’s hard to imagine that Lenglet would be ahead of any of those three in the pecking order if they were to arrive on top of Lenglet.
Whether or not Spurs do this deal in the summer remains to be seen, but it looks as though a permanent move for Lenglet could be a possibility.
