Tottenham Hotspur have joined Premier League rivals Everton in the race to sign Alessio Romagnoli amid reports saying the AC Milan defender won’t be handed a new contract, according to Mundo Deportivo.

After weeks of protracted negotiations, Milan have pulled the rug from under Raiola’s feet.
The Serie A giants brought a sudden end to talks over Romangoli’s future, putting the Rossoneri’s youngest captain since the legendary Franco Baresi on the transfer list.
26-year-old Romangoli will be a free agent in the summer of 2022.
Milan would rather cash in now, with a fee in the region of £17 million expected to do the trick, rather than risk losing the Italy international for absolutely nothing in 12 months.
Tottenham over Everton for Alessio Romagnoli?
Everton were interested, via Il Milanista in March.
The sudden departure of Carlo Ancelotti, however, appears to have brought an end to speculation linking Romagnoli with a move to Goodison Park.
But while Everton appear to have dropped out of the race, Tottenham have thrown their name into the frame after a season beset by high-profile defensive errors in North London.
Does Spurs’ interest have something to do with the impending arrival of Fabio Paratici as their new sporting director? Almost certainly.
Paratici was interested in taking Romagnoli to Juventus in the summer of 2020, via Milan Live.
At the time, Milan were demanding around £45 million. 12 months on, Romagnoli is available for close to £30 million less.
