According to the Telegraph, Tottenham have spoken to Nuno Espirito Santo as Daniel Levy continues his lengthy search to replace José Mourinho.
What’s the story?
Well, the 47-year-old has sat down with Spurs after seeing moves to Everton and Crystal Palace fall through recently.
Levy has moved onto the ex-Wolves boss after seeing discussions with Paulo Fonseca and Gennaro Gattuso break down.
The Telegraph believe Nuno’s talks with Spurs involved many details, including the contract situations of Harry Kane and Heung-min Son.
The Portuguese coach was also quizzed on his style of play, a big factor in the managerial hunt after Mourinho’s drab football bored supporters.
Tottenham’s new Director of Football, Fabio Paratici, has been looking at managers from Italy.
However, he is said to admire Nuno, and believes he can work within the club’s structure.
Nuno is now the favourite
In a separate report from the BBC, it’s said that Nuno is now the leading contender to replace Mourinho in north London.
The ex-Porto boss helped guide Wolves out of the Championship.
He then secured them a place in the Europa League in their first season back in the Premier League.
Nuno eventually led Wolves to the quarter-final of the competition, while also securing another seventh place finish.
He is, however, far from the most exciting option around.
Having said that, Levy is running out of options.
With just days until pre-season starts, Tottenham need a manager quickly.
The longer this drags on for, the more likely it is that Tottenham’s 2021/22 season becomes disrupted before it’s even started.
