Tottenham Hotspur will look to extend the contract of goalkeeper Hugo Lloris during the first few weeks of the upcoming January transfer window, according to TuttoMercatoWEB.
Spurs plan to approach the France captain’s representatives to discuss his future, with his existing deal expiring next summer. The north London outfit are currently considering the terms they could offer the 34-year-old, who joined the club in 2012.
Lloris has not extended his contract at Tottenham since penning a £100k-a-week, six-year deal in 2016. Talks between the shot-stopper and Spurs lasted more than a month before both parties could agree on the terms of his renewal amid vast interest, per The Guardian.

Lloris has stayed Tottenham’s first-choice between the sticks in all 10 of his Premier League campaigns so far. He is also yet to feature in fewer than 20 fixtures in a single term and has already kept four clean sheets over his 12 outings during the current season.
The Spurs captain registered three of his shuts outs during their unbeaten start under Nuno Espirito Santo in August. He has since conceded 17 goals in nine games, and shipped three against Crystal Palace, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United.
Tottenham will let Lloris decide whether or not he wants to stay at the club under Antonio Conte beyond the current season, irrespective of their pursuit of his long-term successor.
Spurs have shown an interest in Everton shot-stopper Jordan Pickford as a possible future number one. The England ace has kept three clean sheets in 13 league games this term.

Lloris and Tottenham already looking at options after current contract
Reports by The Telegraph last month had cited Tottenham as eying Everton’s Pickford to potentially replace Lloris with the France veteran’s existing contract expiring next June.
Spurs have also explored Sam Johnstone’s situation at West Brom with the England goalie also a free agent in 2022. Conte may need to pursue Tottenham’s interest further next year, as Lloris has already looked into his options beyond Spurs.
That’s according to ESPN, who claim Lloris – who turns 35 on Boxing Day – would consider moving to Major League Soccer. A chance to continue as a club’s first-choice may prove to be more appealing than a new contract, too, with Spurs looking for their next number one.
