According to The Telegraph, Antonio Conte wants Tottenham to sign Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

Spurs currently have Hugo Lloris as their number one goalkeeper, but sadly, the Frenchman isn’t getting any younger and the London club need to begin thinking about a long-term replacement for the 34-year-old.

Conte is reportedly keen for Spurs to have a home-grown goalkeeper, so who better to bring in than England’s number one?

Pickford is reportedly in Conte’s sights, and it’s not hard to understand why the former Inter boss wants the Everton goalie at Spurs.

Pickford has proven himself in the Premier League over the past five years while his performances at the 2018 World Cup and Euro 2020 proved that he’s capable of playing at the very top level.

Don’t just take out word for it though, Pickford is also rated very highly by his peers.

Speaking on England’s YouTube channel earlier this year, Jack Grealish had plenty of praise for Pickford.

“Pickers is a joke man, he’s so good as well with his feet,” Grealish said.

Grealish wasn’t the only player with good things to say about Pickford. Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka echoed a similar sentiment.

“He’s got good distribution, so he’s probably going to be a quality player in there anyway,” Saka said.

At the age of 27, Pickford could be Spurs’ number one for years to come, but he certainly won’t come cheaply. After all, Everton did pay £25m for his services back in 2017.

Whether or not Pickford comes to Spurs remains to be seen, but this is certainly a situation to keep an eye on.
