According to Alfredo Pedulla, Tottenham are interested in bringing Henrikh Mkhitaryan back to the Premier League, after Arsenal released him.

What’s the story?

Well, the £88,000-a-week man becomes a free agent in June when his contract with Roma expires, and Antonio Conte is keen.

Pedulla believes that Spurs have already made contact as they look to lure the Armenian to N17.

However, Conte will face competition from Aston Villa, as well as Inter Milan and Napoli.

It was Mikel Arteta who released Mkhitaryan from his contract at the Emirates Stadium, after the 33-year-old shone on loan from Roma.

The Yerevan-born attacker scored nine goals, while also providing six assists, in the 2019/20 campaign, which prompted the Gunners into terminating his contract so he could move to Italy permanently.

In total, Mkhitaryan – who has been compared to Bruno Fernandes – made 59 appearances for Arsenal, scoring nine goals.

Now, the Roma No.77 could seal a sensational return to the Premier League, and with Arsenal’s bitter rivals Tottenham of all teams.

Tottenham could embarrass Arsenal

Usually, we would be against this deal, purely due to Mkhitaryan’s age.

However, the Armenian is a very versatile option, who may actually be quite useful for Conte as Tottenham embark on a Champions League campaign next term – as long as they avoid defeat to Norwich, of course.

So far this season, Mkhitaryan has played on both the left and right wing, as well as in an attacking midfield role, and a central midfield role – as Transfermarkt shows.

He wouldn’t be a long-term addition by any means, but seeing as Fabio Paratici – Director of Football at Spurs – and Conte know Italian football well, they surely know what they’re doing.

After all, the arrivals of Dejan Kulusevski, Cristian Romero and Rodrigo Bentancur from Serie A have been quite successful, so why not add another?

Keep an eye on this situation, as Tottenham could soon sign Mkhitaryan on a free transfer, which would be quite embarrassing for Arsenal if he goes on to succeed.
