According to the Manchester Evening News, Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring Dean Henderson ahead of a move for the goalkeeper in the summer of 2022.
Spurs are keen to bring a new goalkeeper to north London in the summer, and Antonio Conte apparently wants a homegrown option between the sticks – hence the recent links to Jordan Pickford.
Unfortunately for Spurs, a January move for Henderson seems unlikely. Ralf Rangnick has apparently told the 24-year-old he can’t leave the club on loan next month as he wants three quality goalkeepers available to him – which would also suggest that a permanent move in January is off the cards.
Regardless, it seems unlikely that Spurs would opt for a permanent move next month in any case. Hugo Lloris is in brilliant form, but, as we all know, his contract is up in the summer and the 35-year-old isn’t getting any younger.
Henderson would certainly be a capable replacement for Lloris. He’s shown his brilliance in the Premier League in the past while out on loan with Sheffield United, and he’s even an England international.
Don’t just take our word for it either, Jose Mourinho has previously tipped the goalkeeper to be ‘phenomenal’ one day.
The Manchester United man could well end up being Lloris’ long-term replacement at Spurs.
Henderson is certainly a player to keep an eye on as we enter the final few months of the season.
