The English and Italian press haven’t quite been on the same page about Tottenham Hotspur pursuing Simone Inzaghi.
Spurs parted ways with Jose Mourinho in April, and have still yet to find his long-term successor.
A host of names have been touted, and Lazio boss Inzaghi was one of them – but there were very conflicting reports.
Il Tempo suggested earlier over the weekend that Tottenham had made an offer to Inzaghi in the hope of luring him to North London.
Conversely, Football.London’s Alasdair Gold – one of the most well-connected journalists around Tottenham – claimed that Inzaghi was not on Tottenham’s list and wasn’t even under consideration.
Inzaghi’s name has continued to float around the Italian media in relation to Tottenham, but those rumours can surely end now.
Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Inzaghi has agreed terms with Lazio over a new deal and is now set to stay in the Italian capital until 2024.
Inzaghi’s deal will see him earn around €2.2million-a-year – or around £36,500-a-week – with his affection for Lazio leading to this new deal. In 242 games as Lazio boss so far, Inzaghi has won 129 games.
No matter whether you believe the Italian or English media on Tottenham’s interest in Inzaghi, it looks like he won’t be the man for Spurs.
