Tottenham Hotspur have joined some of Europe’s elite in exploring a possible transfer for Corentin Tolisso as he looks set to leave Bayern Munich for free, Calciomercato report.

The Frenchman has just eight-months remaining on his contract at the Allianz Arena and is unlikely to agree new terms. Clubs from England, France, Spain and Italy are interested in signing the midfielder should he become available on a Bosman.

Tolisso joined Bayern from Lyon in 2017 for €41.5m (£35m) plus €6m (£5m) in bonuses to become the most expensive signing in Bundesliga history at the time. The 27-year-old has since made 101 appearances for the Bavarian powerhouse and helped to win 13 trophies.

Bayern have lifted the Bundesliga in each season Tolisso has spent in Germany, along with the 2019/20 Champions League. He also helped France win the World Cup in Russia in 2018 and played a sporadic role at Euro 2020.

The 27-cap international has struggled with a calf injury for much of the current campaign to limit his chances. Tolisso has only made five appearances for 149-minutes with Bayern Munich, but has interest from Tottenham and several rival suitors.

Inter Milan, Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham are interested in a free transfer if Tolisso leaves Bayern Munich. The European outfits are ready to battle for the midfielder’s signature and present the better offers for a Bosman deal.

Should Tottenham target Tolisso transfer amid likely Bayern Munich exit?

Tolisso has struggled with injury problems, which have left the Tottenham transfer target with a lesser role at Bayern Munich. He ruptured a tendon in his left thigh during training in February that kept him out until May. The Frenchman ended the season with 24 outings, starting 12 – including seven in the Bundesliga – across all competitions for 1,325-minutes.

He also only scored three goals and failed to provide an assist as Der FCB enjoyed another trophy-laden campaign. But former Bayern Munich striker Jean-Pierre Papin has previously lauded Tolisso for what the Tottenham transfer target offers, telling Bild:

“Tolisso is not like Xabi Alonso. His style is like [Toni] Kroos. He can defend, he can attack, and he can play a strong role in midfield. He is also technically strong, dangerous for goals and a good preparer.”
