Tottenham Hotspur are now reportedly leading the race for Chelsea target and Brentford goalkeeper David Raya.

Both Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea have been linked with moves for Brentford goalkeeper David Raya in the summer transfer window.

Earlier this month, The Daily Mail claimed that Tottenham and Chelsea are keen on the Spain international, described as “a top-class goalkeeper” by former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Michael Owen on Premier League Productions (06/03/23 at 7:35 pm).

The report claimed that the Bees value the 27-year-old at £40 million.

Spurs, though, are not willing to pay more than £20 million.

Italian journalist Rudy Galetti has now told GiveMeSport that Tottenham are leading the race for Raya.

The reporter has claimed that Spurs want to sign the Brentford star to replace Hugo Lloris, who is likely to leave the North London club at the end of the season.

Galetti said: “At the moment, we can say Spurs are leading the race for the Spanish goalkeeper. He’s considered one of the main targets to replace Lloris, who unless a sensational twist, will say goodbye in June.”

Tottenham Hotspur potentially more appealing than Chelsea for David Raya

In our view, Tottenham Hotspur would be more appealing to David Raya than Chelsea.

After all, at Spurs, Raya would be able to go straight into the starting lineup and stay in the team for years.

Chelsea have two very good goalkeepers in Edouard Mendy and Kepa.

Now, Chelsea are surely not going to sign another goalkeeper without selling Mendy or Kepa in the summer transfer window.

Both Mendy and Kepa are good goalkeepers, and it would be easy for Raya to replace either in the starting lineup.
