Michael Owen says Brentford goalkeeper David Raya is ‘one of the best in the Premier League’ amid transfer rumours that Tottenham Hotspur want to sign him.
The 27-year-old is playing for a Brentford side chasing European football this season and Owen spoke about how ‘a lot of clubs are watching him’.
On Monday night, Raya helped his side secure a 3-2 win over Fulham to move within four points of Spurs in the Premier League table, not forgetting that Thomas Frank’s men have two games in hand on the north London club.

Despite the Bees punching above their weight and pushing hard for European football next term, it seems as though their star keeper will head for the exit door.
Raya’s contract expires in less than 18 months and there aren’t any signs that he will extend his stay, with the likes of Tottenham waiting in the wings.
Former England striker Michael Owen suggested that he is ready to take that step up, as he told Premier League Productions (06/03/23 at 7:35 pm).
“Then the goalkeeper in behind them, Raya, I have longed thought he was a top-class goalkeeper,” said Owen.
“I think he is top-class. I think he is one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League. But I am sure there are a lot of clubs watching him because his contract is running down.”

RAYA READY FOR EUROPE
Given the size of Brentford, they can’t do much if the big boys come knocking for their star players, even if they are in Europe for next season.
The interesting thing will be whether Raya manages to secure a club in the UEFA Champions League.
That’s what could hurt Antonio Conte’s men during the summer transfer window because, if they don’t secure a top-four spot, then forget about signing the ‘top-class’ players, they might not even be able to keep hold of their own.
