The Spurs star looked to be Hull City-bound, however, reported interest from Sunderland could derail the Tigers’ bid.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Ryan Mason is in talks over a move to Sunderland, according to Sky Sports.
Mason appeared to be bound for Hull City, whose caretaker boss Mike Phelan confirmed earlier on Friday that an initial agreement had been struck between the two clubs (Sky Sports).

However, the Tigers’ bid now looks to be under threat after Sunderland reportedly entered the running, despite Mackems boss David Moyes previously confirming his side’s interest in Sevilla midfielder Vicente Iborra.
Mason made his long-awaited Spurs breakthrough under Mauricio Pochettino two seasons ago, leading to a new long-term contract and international recognition.
However, the 25-year-old’s exposure to first team football decreased during the 2015-16 campaign and he is yet to feature this term.
The summer capture of Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama is set to further limit Mason’s chances and a move away could be his best bet of breaking into Sam Allardyce’s England plans.

Despite having just 13 fit senior players, Hull have hit the ground running in their first season back in the Premier League, winning both their opening two fixtures.
However, Sunderland, despite having failed to register a single point from their games, have been an established top-flight outfit since 2007 and will likely pose a real threat to the Tigers’ chances.
