Tottenham have been given a boost in their pursuit of Daichi Kamada, with Eintracht Frankfurt poised to sign his replacement according to Bild.

Bild claim that Frankfurt are set to strike a deal worth up to €15million (£13.5million) for Dinamo Zagreb playmaker Lovro Majer.

The report itself states that Majer could now take Kamada’s place as the Japanese international prepares to leave.

Tottenham’s chase for Kamada

Bild claimed in May that Tottenham wanted to sign €30million-rated (£26million) Kamada in a double deal. Frankfurt teammate Evan Ndicka is also wanted by Spurs.

A week later, Bild suggested that Majer had been picked out as his potential replacement, and that deal now looks set to materialise.

Majer is one of the top talents in Croatia, and likely to play in the attacking midfield role that Kamada starred in last season.

How good was Kamada last season?

Outstanding. The 24-year-old hit five goals, but he really starred as a creative force, racking up 15 assists.

Spurs have lacked a little bit of guile and creativity since Christian Eriksen’s departure, and don’t have a clearly defined number 10 right now.

Dele Alli is still trying to find his form, Tanguy Ndombele isn’t a number 10 and Giovani Lo Celso hasn’t impressed consistently in that advanced role, meaning a deal for Kamada could now make sense with his replacement all set to come in.
