Some Tottenham Hotspur fans urged their club to sign Mahrez from Leicester on Wednesday.

Tottenham Hotspur have twice been offered the chance to sign Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez this year, The Sun’s Paul Jiggins reports (08:07).

And it is claimed they have twice turned him down.

According to the Algerian Football Federation, Mahrez has been allowed to leave the Algeria squad to ‘formalise’ a move away from Leicester.

But it would appear that Tottenham will not be the 26-year-old’s destination, with BBC Sport instead crediting Roma, Barcelona, Manchester United and Chelsea with interest ahead of Thursday’s 11pm transfer deadline.

Nevertheless, Sky Sports reports Leicester have received no bids since the one made by Roma three weeks ago.

Tottenham were linked with a move for fellow Leicester winger Demarai Gray on Wednesday, although several supporters took to Twitter afterwards, urging them to go for Mahrez instead.

According to The Mail, Spurs have enquired about Gray, but are currently ‘indicating a reluctance to submit the kind of bid that would test Leicester’s resolve’.
