Tottenham are reportedly lining up a January bid to sign Bayer Leverkusen talent Piero Hincapie, who is also wanted by the likes of Arsenal, AC Milan and Napoli.

According to CalcioMercato, the 20-year-old Ecuador international is firmly on Tottenham’s radar heading into January, with the north London club viewing the ‘monstrous’ defensive talent as a long-term option to partner the likes of Eric Dier and Cristian Romero in Antonio Conte’s three-man defence.

As per the report, Leverkusen value Hincapie at £22m, though Tottenham are not alone in their interest in the centre-back, with Milan and Napoli also chasing the defender, with Arsenal also being linked to the youngster as reported by Jeunes Footeux.

Viewed by many as one of the most exciting Bundesliga talents this season and a potential breakout star in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Hincapie would be quite the signing for Tottenham if Conte’s side can win the race for the defender. Especially given how much interest there is in the Leverkusen wonderkid.

The 21-cap Ecuador international has started all but two games for Leverkusen this season, and whilst the club’s form has been quite mixed, Hincapie has been noted for his impressive performances this campaign in both the Bundesliga and in the UEFA Champions League.

Indeed, Tottenham could do with a young centre-back to add to their growing collection of promising talents in the squad, such as Djed Spence and Ryan Sessegnon, and signing Hincapie would be quite the option to have heading into the future given the Ecuardoian’s immense experience at such a young age.

Hincapie has established himself as quite the prospect for Leverkusen this season, and with interest ramping up in the youngster, Tottenham should be looking to do all they can to sign the 20-year-old defender in the January transfer window.

After all, a young centre-back with the potential to become a regular for Tottenham is something the club should be looking to add in the winter. And Hincapie’s experience, quality and potential all fit the bill perfectly for what the north London side are seeking in January.
