Italian outlet CalcioMercato claim that Tottenham and Everton have offered midfielders Harry Winks and Allan to Roma this week, as potential replacements for Gini Wijnaldum – after the Dutchman suffered a broken leg in training.
Wijnaldum, 31, only just made his debut for Roma after joining Jose Mourinho’s side from PSG. It comes after a poor first season with the French champions – in which he left Liverpool to join. But after one game, he is out for a while.
Roma are looking for a replacement – and both Everton and Tottenham are said to be looking to take advantage of the situation. That is, by offloading some of their unwanted talents – namely, England star Harry Winks, and Brazilian Allan.
Winks is still said to be training by himself at Spurs, after missing out on the pre-season tour of Korea. Reports on Wednesday suggested that clubs are waiting until the latter days of the window, for Tottenham to get ‘desperate’.

Meanwhile, 31-year-old Allan has not played a single minute for Everton this season. He was even left out of the matchday squad for the 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa. He has entered the final year of his deal at Goodison Park.
Everton and Tottenham have offered Winks and Allan to Roma
Both players desperately need to go – but which would suit Roma more? Mourinho has obviously worked with Winks before and likes him. But he is likely to cost Roma a whole lot more if they try to sign him on a permanent basis.
Everton will be desperate to offload Allan for any kind of cash figure, given his contract. Getting his wages off the list will be a priority. He also has plenty of experience in Serie A, but is a very different player to that of Wijnaldum.
If Roma have the cash and the choice of both Winks and Allan, getting a deal over the line for Winks is a much better move. But in terms of which deal would be easier to pull off, there is no doubt Allan would be the simpler transfer.
