Alasdair Gold has told Football London’s Q&A that Premier League clubs could still sign Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks this summer – but are waiting for Spurs to get ‘desperate’ with offloading Winks, and reduce their price.
Winks, 26, is one of four players Antonio Conte has forced to train by themselves this summer. Leaving him out of the tour of South Korea, Winks, Sergio Reguilon, Gio Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele have been training separately.
Lo Celso has returned to Villarreal, while Ndombele has moved to Napoli. Reguilon and Winks remain and Spurs will be keen to get rid of them. England international Winks was linked with Everton earlier on in the summer window.
Now, Gold has given an update. The Tottenham reporter told Football London’s Q&A that Premier League clubs, and those abroad, are waiting for Spurs to get “desperate” this summer. It might mean that Spurs reduce their price tag.

“I wouldn’t be shocked if he’s a late departure. He will have to move for his sake and Spurs’. He’s good enough for most Premier League sides and those abroad. I’d imagine a few are waiting until Tottenham get a bit desperate.”
Gold: Clubs waiting for Tottenham to get desperate with Winks
Winks needs to leave Tottenham and Tottenham need to sell Winks. For that reason, Spurs will start to get desperate in terms of getting rid of Winks in the final few days of the window. That will see Fabio Paratici reduce his asking price.
Whether that is the terms of a loan – reducing the price in a loan-to-buy deal, or simply letting him go on a dry loan. In terms of a permanent sale, something which Spurs would rather, the asking price will get smaller day by day.
Everton will have cash to spend after the sale of Anthony Gordon, if he does end up moving to Chelsea. That will surely see Paratici get on the phone to the Toffees in order to offload Winks – a club Spurs have a good relationship with.
