Tottenham Hotspur are trying to sort out a deal for defender Cameron Carter-Vickers to leave the club before tonight’s transfer deadline.
That’s according to Football.London, who claim Tottenham ideally want to move the American international out in the coming hours.
An injury sustained against Pacos de Ferreira almost a fortnight ago delayed a possible exit, but Carter-Vickers is now fit enough to move on.
Tottenham are actively trying to get Carter-Vickers fixed up with another club, but a loan deal will not be sanctioned.
The 23-year-old’s contract expires next summer, so loaning him out to just leave for free in a year’s time doesn’t make business sense for Tottenham.
Newcastle United are in talks with Tottenham over a potential deal for Carter-Vickers according to 90Min, with Graeme Jones believed to be a fan.
Newcastle coach Jones worked with Carter-Vickers at Bournemouth and could now push for Steve Bruce to bring him to St James’ Park.

Sky Sports reporter Paul Gilmour has also been speaking about Carter-Vickers live on air this afternoon, discussing a possible move to Celtic.
“We’re being told there is Celtic loan interest in him,” said Gilmour (2:27pm). “It’s a difficult deal to do, perhaps not looking likely. We’re hearing that Tottenham would prefer to do a permanent deal,” he added.
There isn’t long left for Carter-Vickers to get a new club, but it seems that Tottenham are really trying to make it happen.
