Newcastle United are interested in signing Cameron Carter-Vickers from Tottenham Hotspur on summer transfer deadline day, according to 90min (Transfer Live blog, August 31, 2021).
It has been reported that Newcastle are keen on signing players on loan before the summer transfer window closes tonight.
The Magpies have spoken to a number of clubs, and one of them is Tottenham.
Newcastle are in talks with Spurs over signing USA international central defender Carter-Vickers on loan, according to the report.
Could a transfer happen?
Carter-Vickers has been at Tottenham since 2009, but the 23-year-old has not made a single Premier League appearance for the North London club.
The 23-year-old has been out on loan at a number of clubs over the years, including Sheffield United, Swansea City and Bournemouth.
Carter-Vickers is out of contract at Spurs next summer.

A simple loan deal would see Tottenham get the youngster’s wages off their books, but next summer he would leave on a free.
That would not be great business.
For Spurs, it would make sense to try to sell the USA international now and get some transfer fee.
Would Newcastle be willing to pay a transfer fee to sign Carter-Vickers, who recently suffered an injury?
