Tottenham have to increase their offer for Cristian Romero by £8m if they are to sign the defender.
According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Spurs are €10m (£8m) off Atalanta’s asking price for the Argentina international.
Tottenham have currently offered €43m (£36m) plus add ons which would take a deal up to €50m (£42m). However, the Serie A side want €60m (£51m) for their star defender.
Personal terms have been agreed between the defender and Spurs. And as per the report, Nuno Espirito Santo and Fabio Paratici have been ‘decisive’ in persuading Romero to join Tottenham.
Indeed, whilst Daniel Levy has to pay the remaining £8m to sign the defensive star, it seems very likely that the defender will sign for Spurs this summer.
Romero will become Tottenham’s third arrival this window following Bryan Gil and Atalanta teammate Pierluigi Gollini.
Centre-back has been Spurs’ priority from the beginning this summer.
Whilst Spurs had a solid defensive record in the Premier League last season, the north London side were guilty of conceding too many easy goals.

Indeed, it is easy to say that sloppy errors at the back played a key role in Tottenham failing to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
Spurs finished seventh in the league standings, five points off the top four.
Toby Alderweireld close to the exit door and the likes of Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez open to leaving. Meaning, Tottenham could start the new season with a completely new-looking centre-back partnership.
Moreover, with Romero set to sign for the club, it could be a set of transfer decisions that set Tottenham up well for the future.
