Trabzonspor have reportedly reignited their interest to sign Rangers defender Borna Barisic following the arrival of Ridvan Yilmaz at Ibrox earlier this week.
According to Fotomac, the reigning Turkish Super Lig champions are pushing once again to sign Barisic following Rangers’ £5m capture of Yilmaz, with the signing potentially opening the door for the Croatian international to leave Glasgow for good.
As per the report, Yilmaz is viewed as Rangers’ long-term starting left-back with the Turkish youngster regarded by many as one of Europe’s most exciting talents in the position, and as a result, Trabzonspor now want to sign Barisic following interest in the defender earlier in the window.
The 29-year-old was one of Rangers’ most important players last season as the Bears made it all the way to the UEFA Europa League final, a game that Barisic started, and although the fullback started this weekend’s Scottish Premiership opener against Livingston, the Croat could be set for the exit at Ibrox.
Indeed, with Trabzonspor the current Turkish champions after a historic season, the prospect of playing for the Black Sea side could be an exciting one for Barisic, who might be up for a new challenge following four years in Scotland with Rangers.
Moreover, with Yilmaz set to take the starting left-back spot at some point this season, Barisic could be better off leaving for a club like Trabzonspor where the Croatian international will likely be a guaranteed starter for a top side that will also be competing in Europe this campaign.
Barisic should be pushing to sign for Trabzonspor this summer

Yilmaz is an impressive coup for Rangers this summer with the fullback having the potential to become the next top superstar defender in the SPL, and this alone could be enough to see Barisic want to sign for Trabzonspor, who could be perfect for what the left-backs needs this season.
With the 2022 FIFA World Cup on the horizon, Barisic will want to be playing regular football to win his spot in the Croatian national team, and signing for Trabzonspor where the left-back will be a starter seems like a no-brainer for the Rangers star.
