According to The Telegraph, Swansea, QPR and Middlesbrough are looking at signing Jack Simpson from Rangers.
The 24-year-old joined Rangers last summer, but he’s not really played much football for the Gers as of late, making just four appearances this season.
Simpson is wanted by three Championship clubs, and it’s not all that surprising to hear that he could be on the move considering how far he’s fallen down the pecking order at Ibrox.
The defender is seemingly spoilt for choice in January with QPR, Boro and Swansea all keen, and he’ll have a big decision to make if all three clubs come in for him.
QPR are flying at the moment, sitting comfortably in the Championship’s top-six. However, the centre-half partnership of Rob Dickie and Yoann Barbet is seemingly unbreakable at the moment.
Chris Wilder will undoubtedly build an interesting project at Middlesbrough, but they’re not in the best of positions right now and Simpson will have to adjust his game quite a bit if he’s going to play as an overlapping centre-half for Wilder.
Russell Martin’s Swansea play attractive football from the back, which would suit Simpson’s ability on the ball, but, once again, they’re not exactly challenging for promotion in England’s second-tier.
It remains to be seen what happens with Simpson in January, but this is seemingly a situation worth keeping an eye on.
