According to The Athletic, there’s a good chance that Liverpool will sign Fabio Carvalho this summer when his contract expires.

The Reds looked to have a deal in place to land the teenager on deadline day, but the agreement came too late in the day and they missed their chance to bring him in.

However, that doesn’t necessarily mean he won’t be joining the club.

Indeed, Carvalho is available on a free transfer this summer, and as long as he doesn’t sign a new deal with Fulham or a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club, Liverpool will be able to re-open negotiations with the youngster.

One has to imagine that Liverpool will be in the driver’s seat if Carvalho gets to the summer without agreeing personal terms with any other club. After all, the player is clearly willing to make such a move, having agreed to a switch to Anfield on Monday.

So, what type of player will Liverpool be getting if they land Carvalho in the summer?

The teenager is a very direct attacking midfielder who can create, score and dribble to an incredibly high standard, and he’s even been described as ‘outstanding’ in the past.

Liverpool could be getting an absolute gem in Carvalho, but they have to hope that his situation doesn’t change too much between now and the summer.
